This position exists to provide support to maintenance of the City's streets, medians, and right of way. Any specials skills required will be on-the-job training under direct supervision.  The employee is also required to complete other tasks as assigned, especially as they relate to special event or city festival preparations.

This position is seasonal, working up to 6 months
Pay is $15.30 per hour

Examples of Work
  • Mows grass, manage weeds, cuts brush with or without power equipment
  • Assists in maintenance of roads, ditches and street surfaces
  • Performs routine mechanical maintenance of City equipment
  • Assists in the preparation of city facilities for private rentals and public events.
Other related duties as necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity operating zero-turn mowers, weed eaters, tractors, UTVs, chainsaws preferred
  • Working knowledge of common hand tools and power tools.
  • The ability to follow and comprehend written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to apply safe working habits.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving history that meets the requirements to be covered by the City’s insurance.
  • 6 months related work experience, preferred

Physical Requirements

  • This work involves physical labor and exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or equipment possibly weighing 80 lbs. or more with occasional maximum lift of 68 lbs. from floor to shoulder and 30 lbs. from floor to waist.  Examples of movements include walking on uneven terrain and surfaces that may be slick from the elements, climbing in and out ditches, bending, stooping, and/or shoveling as required; trimming trees, accessing heights, etc.  The position frequently operates motorized equipment for extended periods of time.  Regular and proper use of PPE is required.  Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
